To work with the churches of the greater Peterborough region, through a team of youth specialists to pioneer an evangelistic youth work vision to see many young people finding faith in Jesus. The vision is to see believers trained and equipped to be missionary disciples

The HOPE Revolution Peterborough partnership recognise that for the growth and renewal of the church across our region, intentional evangelistic strategies to reach and disciple young people for Jesus should be a top priority. We believe that the church can be transformed by the vibrant cutting edge that a massive injection of young people will produce and HOPE Revolution Peterborough will serve the churches of the region to see the vision realised. Through both evangelistic events and regular training we will grow and equip young people as missional disciples.

Unity: We believe in the blessing that comes through unity (Psalm 133). Whilst celebrating the diversity of the church, we are one church and seek to bring unity in seeing increased levels of intentional evangelism amongst young people. Together we will serve our region, jointly owning the vision, sharing roles and responsibilities, and valuing the contribution of all.

Evangelism: Christ commands us to ‘Go and make disciples’ and we believe that the gospel is best communicated through both our words and our actions. Together, we place an urgency on evangelism with an emphasis on reaching out to peers, seeking to engage young people in living a lifestyle of evangelism

Discipleship: We desire to not just see converts, but to grow disciples who value being an active part of the local church. Evangelistic initiatives will be underpinned by discipleship strategies that see young people grow in character, gifting and leadership, helping young people go deeper in their faith.

Empowerment: We will empower young people to own this vision, so that peer to peer evangelism becomes their agenda. We will celebrate all young people, loving unconditionally and respecting and valuing all.

Review and development: We seek excellence in all that we do. We will prioritise an honest reflection of successes and failures through ongoing monitoring and evaluation, ensuring improved performance

Sustainability: We will ensure that all evangelistic efforts are shaped within the context of a long-term perspective. We will influence strategy that seeks sustainable outcomes, leaving a legacy for emerging generations of young people.

Prayer: We believe in the power of prayer and God’s ability to transform lives. Prayer is the foundation and underpins all that we do.

Statement of faith

HOPE Revolution Peterborough believe in…

  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world. The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
  • The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
  • The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
  • The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
  • The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers— given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
  • The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth

Gospel Doctrine

  • You are not an accident. You are created by, and in the image of God, a perfect and loving God (Father, Spirit, Son) who is the source and sustainer of life (Gen 1)
  • All have rejected God (sinned) by going our own way instead of being obedient to the kind of living that the creator intends for us. This is why the world is broken and full of suffering. The injustice angers God who does not trivialise sin by ignoring or excusing it, but by justly punishing those who offend (Rom 3:23)
  • We are powerless to put things right once we have rebelled against God, an act of treason against the king of the universe. Rejection of God (life) is rejection of life (God)- We are left with eternal death, the natural working of rejecting life and for God’s punishment for breaking his standard for right living ((Rom 6:23)
  • But God desires for none to know death, for he is love itself and he wants to be in eternal relationship with us, his dearly loved children. God graciously set in motion a rescue mission to save us (1 Tim 2: 4-6)
  • God sent his Son, Jesus Christ into this world as a human being, to live the perfect human life that never rejected the Father God. Jesus was killed upon a cross, acting as our substitute and taking upon himself the death we deserved for our rejection of God (John 3:16)
  • Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, showing that the curse of death is broken. New life is possible only through trust in Jesus Christ and the seeking of forgiveness for sin (Eph 2: 1-10)
  • Jesus returned to heaven where he reigns at the right hand of the Father, but he has left believers the gift of the Holy Spirit to empower us to live obediently to the fullness of life, and to help us share the good news with the world so that others may be saved from death through faith in Christ (Acts 1:8)
  • One day we will take our last breath, or Jesus will return first to judge the living and the dead. God’s perfect kingdom will be restored and eternal life with our loving Father God awaits those who trust in Jesus and Lord, eternal death awaits those who do not. The good news is that no one needs to die; all can know eternal life and relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ (Rev 21: 1-8)

Jesus Christ has made it possible through his death and resurrection for humanity to throw off the shackles of existence and have a second chance at true life. The gospel is God’s masterplan for moving an imperfect humanity into relationship with a perfect God, from rebellious existence into true life.
